Michael Kors Spring 2017 for T Magazine

It may have not been "All Access Kors" as I would have hoped, but it was a dream. Between backstage with all the models napping, snapchatting, and getting dolled up to a quick trip to first looks, I got all the access I needed. Never having shot Bella before, I felt like I checked a killer model off my bucket list.  

Bella was given a GoPro set up to tape herself backstage getting ready. She turned the camera around and faced it on me and another photographer (who was shooting for Getty). “Hey everyone! Look at my friends” she said into the GoPro as she smiled and taped us. We both waved at the camera. Sadly, this clip was cut from the final video, but I make a "small" (literal and physical) cameo in the beginning.

Monique Lhuillier Spring 2017

This was by far the prettiest runway I shot all week. I shot for Monique covering backstage, first looks, front row and runway. Bows tied on pony tails matched the handbags with bows hanging from the straps. Thick brows, nude lips and dark nails (which happens to be my everyday look) were also seen backstage. I can't wait to see what she has in store for bridal!

Tory Burch Spring 2017 for T Magazine

Girls in matching tracksuits remind me of my middle school days (i.e. Juciy), but Tory out did herself. Models wore matching Tory Sport tracksuits that made you feel like their were some sort of elite model Olympic beauty team. The show was held at the Whitney, where the runway, hair and makeup and first looks took over 2 floors.

Sara Sampaio, Taylor Hill, Romee Strijd, Stella Maxwell and Hailey Baldwin were in attendance. Tory watched rehearsals and was never seen without perfect smile. If she was stressed, you wouldn't have been able to notice. I snuck into the room where all the clothes were on rack and drooled over the pearl shoes and oversized pearl necklaces.

Prabal Gurung Spring 2017

When Prabal asked to work with me again, I immediately responded YES. all CAPS.

I adored working with the team when I was shooting their BTS for their pre-fall lookbook and was thrilled to work with the creative and passionate team once again. 

"Just do your thing." No shot list. No requirements. No off-limit areas. I was able to capture, explore and create content for their social channels with no restrictions. This isn't always the case backstage at shows, even if you are shooting for the designer themselves. Hailey Baldwin was their "star" backstage. She was also on my model bucket list and was eager to shoot her transformation of pre-hair & makeup to off the runway. 

The cherry on top, seeing my work immediately on their homepage of their website.

Ryan Roche Spring 2017 for T Magazine

It is always fun to photograph shows with similarities to ones I shot in the past or same week. It pushes me to capture different content. This show also had a ballerina (like Sachin & Babi) and a red lip (much like Monse). The simple neutrals juxtaposed the complex hair weaving with fabric.

Sachin & Babi Spring 2017

Ballerinas in Sachin & Babi custom spring pieces and gowns that make me want to twirl around endlessly filled the three floor Fort Gansevoort in Meatpacking. The models were relaxed and had smiles from ear to ear as they put on their looks. Guests started filing in around 11, coming up to the designer duo congratulating them on a beautiful collection.

Monse Spring 2017 for T Magazine

Back shooting for T this NYFW season and I couldn't be more blessed. Monse was the perfect start to my fashion week. Red lip classic, sequins and a "de-constructed" runway and one small photographer attempting to yet again not fan girl out in front of Zosia Mamet.

Tommy Hilfiger Men's SS17 for T Magazine

Tommy Hilfiger's Men's Presentation was rainbow dreams meets Beatles cover. 

"I don't have Tommy underwear!" screams one model. "Everyone has matching underwear and I don't have any on!" he says while looking deep into his black and white striped pants. 

The models posed for a quick shot on the High Line prior to the presentation. Separate square platforms filled the empty space for models to stand on. The models were bold and bright next to the all black attendees of the fashion industry in NYC. 

Rack of clothes, sunglass, bags, belts and shoes were displayed throughout the room. Guests were greeted at the door by attractive men in matching white and red striped shirts with cocktail trays and Brooklyn summer Ale bottles. 

One guest snatched a jacket off the display and sunglasses to take an Instagram. (He quickly was asked to take all the items off). Jerry O'Connell, a VIP guest, introduced himself to me, as if I had no idea who he was. I tried to hold back telling him how much I like his new role on Mistresses.

Ovadia and Sons SS17 NYFWM

Leopard. Tie Dye. Marijuana logos. 

Shimon and Ariel Ovadia put on the most killer show last night at Skylight Clarkson that I have ever seen. 

I raved about how much I loved the collection to the brothers backstage after I looked through the pieces shooting details of the furs, nits and blouses. "Don't look at all the pieces before the show, it will ruin the surprise for you," they said. However, seeing it on the runway was a whole new experience. A flower installation hung from the ceiling and the runway was shaped in a horse shoe as models circled around benches of seats. 

Guests included Jadakiss, Colton Haynes, Ally Maki, Travis Mills, Eric Rutherford, Shabazz Muhammad, Dahntay Jones, Dwayne Harris and J Balvin. Luka Sabbat opened the show in a leopard silk top and layers of chain necklaces. 

I was fortunate enough to cover my 3rd Ovadia and Sons collection. A collection that will be buzzed about for months to come. 

Naeem Khan Bridal Spring 2017 for Harper's Bazaar

Naeem Khan's Bridal show introduced so many colors and patterns into the gowns. I listening to him discuss the intricate patchwork and hand sewing that went into creating some of the designs. It is clear his work is done in passion and with attention to detail.

Houghton Bridal Spring 2017 for Harper's Bazaar

This show was killer to shoot. I got access to show up early and spent the day hanging with the models as they shot for the lookbook, had lunch and weaved their way around this townhouse.

The location in itself was amazing. Four stories high on the UES, stained glass windows, an old fashioned elevator and a small indoor terrace. It was the perfect location for Katherine Polk to showcase her newest bridal collection. In last season's bridal, she had a pregnant model so it was only fitting to have her back and design an outfit for the newborn.

Marchesa Bridal Spring 2017 for Harper's Bazaar

Bridal fashion week is in full swing now. I'll be covering backstage, presentations and runway for Harper's Bazaar.

When I was in college, I took a summer internship at Harper's Bazaar. I worked in the Photo Department helping put together inspiration boards, location scouting, gathering props for shoots etc. I had no idea that one day I would be able to say I am one of those photographers. 

It's always surreal seeing my work published, but even more so this time because it hits so close to home. I had the most amazing summer working for Harper's. I met one of my closest friends to date in that intern corner office. Harper's was also the main reason I switched my focus to fashion photojournalism. Prior to that summer, I imagined myself being more of a photojournalist covering stories for Getty or the NYT. I always had a love for the fashion world, but was still insure how I could intertwine my skills as a journalist with the high end glamour world. 

Marchesa was my first show of the week. Flowers were being ushered into Canoe Studios-high on the 14th floor. Models waited patiently to have their hair braided into some magical up do that looks like something you would spend hours watching a YouTube video of and in the end still not get it even close.  

Watching the girls grace the hallways of the studios making their way to their designated podiums for the presentation felt like a dream. Editors not holding macaroons and champagne in their the hands were snapchatting stories of bridal bliss.

Bridal Spring 2017 J. Mendel

Last Tuesday, I got to work again with my lovely J. Mendel Family. Down at Root Studios, Marinet , the model,  and Anastasia, the makeup artist,  discussed relationships, while I watched in amazement how easy it was for Anastasia to contour Marinet's perfect face. 

Mendel's collection included pieces that clearly had his signature touch. I could recognize that long sleeve bell sleeve from miles away. Others, were light blue and covered in decorative jewels and sequins - catered to the unconventional bride. 

At the end of the shoot, Christian had asked Marinet pose for some extra looks, more editorial in nature than the lookbook photos. "You want dog, I gave you dog," laughs Marinet to Chrisitan as they look at the computer of the final shots. Marinet leaped and screamed in patent leather black shoes (the shoes she arrived to the shoot in). Her wet straight hair covers her face in a sexual manner as she seductively holds the left over rose petals from the bouquets.

The images couldn't be more different than the dainty head to toe bridal looks. 

It's fun to see how a dress could be worn in so many different ways. Truly proves how a wedding dress, as beautiful as it might be, looks completely new and innovative on each bride. It's all in the attitude and woman wearing the gown on her special day.
