Isaiah Thomas joined the HPHC Day of Service at Hennigan Elementary School in Jamaica Plain. Teachers, students, City Year Corps Members, Harvard Pilgrim employees and Celtics volunteers gathered at the school at 10 am eager to start the day. Lucky got everyone pumped for the day with a dunk show before groups ventured off to their assignments. Walls around the school were painted with inspirational phrases in addition to nutritional and athletic clinics for the children.
When Isaiah Thomas arrived with Walter McCarty, the two took a tour around the school greeting the volunteers and ultimately finishing the day playing freeze tag with the kids.
Isaiah is one of my favorite players to work with. He is so completely genuine and approachable. The last event I photographed him at was a basketball clinic he hosted at The Boys and Girls club and with his son at the Playoff games, so I was thrilled to be able to work with him again.
New to Instagram, Isaiah writes in his Insta bio "Proud Father! If all I'm remembered for is being a good basketball player, then I've done a bad job with the rest of my life." This couldn't be any more accurate of a representation of who he is as a person off the court.
